Central Floda / 2013

In collaboration with architect David Lookofsky I have designed a new master plan of the Swedish city of Floda, which is located 30 kilometers northeast of Gothenburg.

The city is located in very pretty surroundings with water, forests and hills located close by, but the city is not taking advantage of the huge potentials there are. By introducing a new cultural path through the city a new link between new urban spaces and existing structures is created with a cohesive and diverse patchwork of old and new urban spaces and recreational areas.

A series of unique places, urban spaces and trails, are created which together create Floda’s new cultural axis. In the middle of this axis is Floda’s characteristic existing bridge, which will be the city's new natural fulcrum for active experiences in water and forest. Floda takes the magical encounter between nature and culture!

Common to all the urban spaces is that they become close connected to the water, where the river will be able to influence the atmosphere on the new city structure. The area is divided into three unique neighborhoods with their own identities, which make it possible to develop them independently.
