FCA Stadium - diploma project / 2009

I have designed a brand new football stadium to the Danish club FC Amager. Contrary to the traditional football stadium the vision was to design a unique building with a diverse life in and around the stadium at all times, and the interaction with the surroundings was therefore very important.

The perfect location for the stadium was found next to the ocean and close to Amager Beach Park, where it in interaction with Denmark’s new aquarium, The Blue Planet would be a culmination of the entire recreational strip along Amager Beach Park. To obtain the vision additional features like shops, bars, restaurants, a swimming bath etc. were added to generate lots of activities in the area, but also to make a healthy economy for the club.

Architecturally the stadium was designed as a part of the landscape that where continuing into the water, where the stands and the football pitch where indented in the massive, and the surface of the roof became the new public green surface. Furthermore the staging of the whole experience was very important - the stadium as the cave with the spectators noise internally and externally the roar of the ocean. It made a unique and lively experience where the club would get a stadium with its very own identity that was adjusted to the very specific location.
